Newsletter 2/24: Your support matters

Empowering change through cultureyour support matters

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for being a part of the Irma Stern™ Museum (ISM) community. Every visit, event hosted, and donation received has played a vital role in enabling us to provide enriching experiences and educational opportunities to our visitors, particularly learners from diverse backgrounds across the province.

Broadening horizons: fostering inclusivity

Through the ISM, we strive to cultivate inclusivity, inviting the wider community to acknowledge that our cultural heritage and history hold genuine relevance and belong to everyone. At ISM, we believe that culture and heritage are not just artefacts behind glass but living, breathing entities that belong to everyone. Our mission is to make this enriching space accessible to all, fostering inclusivity and community engagement.

Empowering through education

The Museum takes immense pride in its education programmes and it is at the heart of what we do. From the Art House for All programme, which provides a creative outlet for learners facing barriers to learning, to our Open Art House programme, which engages mainstream school students, we are committed to creating vibrant, immersive learning experiences.

In 2023 alone, we welcomed schools like Mary Harding and Glenbridge Special School, enriching the lives of over 200 learners through these initiatives. But our work does not stop there. We continue to reach out to under-resourced schools, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore their creativity within our walls.

Join us in making a difference

You can be a part of this transformative journey. Whether it is by visiting the Museum, booking our venues for your events, or making a donation, your support directly impacts the lives of learners and enriches our community. Every contribution helps us reach another child, guiding them to discover the joy and healing power of creativity.

To make a donation – monetary or in kind – email Lucinda via lucinda.cullum@uct.ac.za for details. In-kind donations can include art materials and similar.

Due to high demand, the art class scheduled for April is now fully booked. Stay tuned on Instagram for updates on additional art classes as the dates approach.

With best wishes from the ISM Team
