Talk: ‘How I Began To Paint’ Exhibition

Irma Stern: Untitled. Watercolour on paper, 1908

About

With the winter cold and wet biting, what better way to spend an early evening than learning more about Irma Stern and her art?
Join Irma Stern™ Museum Director Nadja Daehnke in a discussion of the How I Began to Paint’ exhibition. This exhibition opened in 2022 to mark a hundred years since Stern held her first, and notoriously poorly reviewed, South African solo exhibition.
  • Time: 15:00–16:30
Nadja will talk you through the research process behind ‘How I Began to Paint’, exploring central themes in Stern’s early work and experiences.
To book, please email Lucinda at irmastern@uct.ac.za.
